Diljit Dosanjh Questions Bollywood’s Alcohol-Themed Songs Amid Restrictions, Drops Pushpa Reference

Diljit Dosanjh took the stage in Mumbai on Thursday night as part of his Dil-Luminati India Tour, captivating the crowd with his charm and energy despite a recent advisory issued by the Maharashtra government. The notice, which urged the singer to avoid performing songs referencing drugs, alcohol, and violence, had also been issued in other cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Chandigarh prior to his concerts.

At the start of the show, Diljit addressed the advisory in a unique way, weaving it into a mythological narrative. Speaking to his audience, he reassured them, “You don’t worry about it. The advisory is for me. I will make sure that you have double the fun than you expected.”

He went on to share his interpretation of the story of Sagar Manthan, where the poison was held by Lord Shiva in his throat. “Life and the world might throw poison at you, but you should never take it in. Don’t let your work suffer. People might stop you, but you should not let it bother you from within. Enjoy, have fun,” he said, inspiring the crowd to rise above challenges.

Ending his talk on a high note, Diljit performed the iconic Pushpa gesture with his signature line, “Aaj jhukega nahi,” earning thunderous applause.

In another moment from the concert, Diljit made a pointed yet humorous observation about Bollywood. Referring to the advisory, he remarked, “This is Mumbai, right? There are so many songs here in movies about alcohol. I don’t want to name artists or their songs, but you know how many are made in Bollywood. Yet, it’s my songs that are making the most noise these days.”

Diljit’s Mumbai concert proved to be a celebration of music, resilience, and unwavering positivity, leaving fans energized and inspired.
