Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming Delhi concert has received police clearance, a day after authorities initially denied permission over security concerns.
The concert, part of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour, is scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the national capital. The approval follows discussions between Delhi Police and the organisers over the security arrangements required for the event.
According to India Today, the organisers agreed to comply with conditions laid down by the police, including requirements related to private security personnel, crowd management and other safety arrangements.
BookMyShow Live, the concert’s ticketing partner, said in a statement, “We have held a cordial and constructive meeting with Delhi Police and presented a detailed plan addressing the required arrangements. We have assured the authorities of full compliance with all applicable security, traffic and crowd-management requirements.”
The company added that it would continue coordinating with the police and other authorities to ensure a safe and smooth experience for concertgoers while minimising inconvenience to local residents and commuters.
Why was permission initially denied?
The concert faced uncertainty after Delhi Police refused permission, citing specific threat-related inputs and security and law-and-order commitments during the festive season.
The initial decision had raised questions about whether the Delhi leg of the tour would proceed as scheduled. However, following further discussions and the organisers’ assurances on security arrangements, the authorities granted approval on October 23. Aura India Tour to continue across cities
The Delhi concert is scheduled to kick off the India leg of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour. Following the national capital show, the tour is set to continue in Indore on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai on November 27, Bengaluru on November 29 and Lucknow on December 5. A Chandigarh concert has also been announced, though its date and other details are yet to be confirmed.
With police permission now in place, the October 30 show is set to go ahead as planned, subject to compliance with the stipulated arrangements.
