Spotify's Global Charts Feature A Surge Of Indian Music

In recent years, the global export of Indian music, spanning languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, has surged, driven by cross-cultural collaborations and the enhanced discoverability afforded by platforms like Spotify. The first half of 2024 has seen a remarkable spread of songs featuring Indian artists to various international markets, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and even France.

Adding to the excitement, Punjabi artist Harsh Likhari's collaboration with Canadian artist Connor Price, “Customs,” has made it onto Spotify’s Top 50 - Canada playlist. Meanwhile, the collaboration between French artist Tayc and Indian artists Shreya Ghoshal and Rajat Nagpal, “Yimmy Yimmy,” has been featured on the Afropop playlist, one of Spotify’s largest editorially curated pop playlists.
