Amazon Music has unveiled an AI feature named Maestro, allowing users to craft playlists simply by providing a text prompt within the app. Currently in beta, this playlist generator is accessible to both Android and iPhone users. Echoing a move by Spotify, Amazon is tapping into the trend of AI-driven playlist creation, catering to a growing demand for personalized music experiences.
In a recent blog post, Amazon stated, "Meet Maestro: An AI playlist generator that helps you create any playlist you can think of—plus all the ones you can’t." This beta rollout targets a select group of U.S. customers across all tiers of Amazon Music services.
Listeners can not only save the AI-generated playlists but also share them with fellow Amazon Music users. Creating a playlist involves entering a text prompt, which may include emojis, emotions, activities, sounds, or selecting from suggested prompts. Amazon assures users that within moments, they'll witness their textual cues transform into tailor-made playlists, featuring tracks spanning various genres.
Maestro's beta phase includes a subset of Free, Prime, and Unlimited Amazon Music subscribers in the U.S. Unlimited subscribers gain instant access to their playlists, while Prime members and ad-supported users can preview their playlists for 30 seconds before deciding to save them.
Amazon plans to gradually extend AI playlist capabilities to more users over time. Notably, the company has implemented safeguards to filter out offensive language and inappropriate prompts, ensuring a positive user experience. As Amazon continues to refine Maestro, users can anticipate an increasingly seamless and personalized playlist creation process.
