Rishab Rikhiram Sharma Joins Ramayana Music Team Alongside A.R. Rahman And Hans Zimmer

Sitar virtuoso Rishab Rikhiram Sharma has joined the music team of Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious film Ramayana, where he will collaborate with Academy Award-winning composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer on the film's score. The project marks Sharma's first major Hindi film scoring credit.

The announcement was made during the launch of the trailer for the two-part epic at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Saturday.

Ahead of the trailer unveiling, Sharma captivated the audience with a live performance of his original compositions Tilak Kamod, Chanakya, Kautilya and Tandavam, along with the devotional bhajan Rama Rama. The performance featured his custom-engineered electronic sitar, SITARA, blending classical traditions with modern musical innovation.

As part of the project, Sharma has contributed to the film's title track featured in the trailer as well as several key musical sequences. His work combines Indian classical music with contemporary elements, adding a distinctive sonic identity to the film's score.

Prior to the event, Sharma shared a photograph on Instagram with director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, who portray Lord Ram and Ravana, respectively, hinting at his involvement in the project.

Welcoming Sharma to the film, producer Namit Malhotra said, "We're delighted to welcome Rishab Rikhiram Sharma to the musical journey of Ramayana. Alongside Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, he will be contributing his unique artistry to the film's score. His distinctive musical voice brings a fresh perspective to this epic and we're excited to have him on board."

Beyond his musical career, Sharma is also known for his 'Sitar for Mental Health' initiative, which promotes emotional wellbeing, healing and mindfulness through music. Reacting to his association with Ramayana, the initiative's official social media handle shared a celebratory video, captioned: "A collaboration of extraordinary musical minds coming together for one epic story. Here's to a soundtrack that promises to be nothing less than legendary."

Ramayana features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lord Lakshman. The film is slated for a two-part release and is among the most anticipated Indian cinematic projects in production.
