Oscar Winner Zimmer & AR Rahman To Join Forces For 'Ramayana' With Ranbir Kapoor

Production for the eagerly anticipated film 'Ramayana' has commenced with notable stars including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol stepping into pivotal roles. Although the official project announcement is scheduled for April 17th, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, reports from Pinkvilla suggest that director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra have pulled off a significant coup by securing the collaboration of not one, but two Oscar-winning composers for the film's musical score.

According to these reports, the acclaimed German-American composer Hans Zimmer and Indian musical maestro AR Rahman will be joining forces to craft the music for this grand endeavor. Should this collaboration indeed come to fruition, it would mark Zimmer's inaugural venture into the realm of Indian cinema.

For those unfamiliar, Zimmer boasts an illustrious portfolio having composed scores for iconic films such as 'The Lion King,' 'Man of Steel,' 'Interstellar,' 'The Dark Knight Trilogy,' 'Inception,' 'Dune,' and 'Dunkirk,' among others, earning him a slew of prestigious awards including Oscars, Grammys, BAFTAs, and Golden Globes.

A source closely associated with the film's development revealed to Pinkvilla, "Hans Zimmer is gearing up to make his debut in the Indian film industry with 'Ramayana.' Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari have consistently advocated for a global perspective in portraying this Indian epic, sparing no effort to materialize that vision. Zimmer finds himself captivated by the narrative surrounding Lord Ram and is enthusiastic about composing the score for 'Ramayana.'"

The insider further commented on the collaboration between Zimmer and Rahman, describing it as a "match made in heaven," emphasizing the convergence of two international talents in presenting India's narrative to the world. Notably, Zimmer has previously expressed his desire to collaborate with Rahman, thus making this potential partnership all the more enchanting.

Meanwhile, 'Ramayana,' the first installment in the mythological trilogy, is presently in production and is touted to be one of the most expensive cinematic ventures in Indian cinema. The creators aim to unveil this grand spectacle to audiences worldwide during the festive season of Diwali in 2025.
