Asianet News has expanded the role of Tapan Sharma, currently COO of its digital news division, to also head its music and entertainment vertical—encompassing IndigoMusic.com and FM stations in Bengaluru and Goa.
The move reflects Asianet’s strategy to build a digital-first content ecosystem centered around music, pop culture, and lifestyle. IndigoMusic.com will now become the unified brand identity across radio and digital platforms, reinforcing its position as a youth-centric, globally curated music destination.
Sharma, who played a key role in scaling Asianet News Digital through multilingual strategies, is now tasked with transforming Indigo into a full-fledged lifestyle entertainment brand. “We’re evolving IndigoMusic.com into a space where global music, culture, and creativity converge,” he said, highlighting plans for expansion into retail, events, and creator-driven content.
The brand’s next phase will focus on diversified formats—live shows, original podcasts, and interactive digital experiences—to deepen cultural relevance and reach among urban audiences.
“With Indigo, we aim to be where the pulse of young India beats,” Sharma added, as the network positions itself at the intersection of music, memes, and movements.
The documentary reveals that the sale was driven by urgent financial pressures, including excessive spending and mismanagement of funds.
