On the occasion of International Music Day, senior representatives from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (I&B), Ministry of Culture, and Prasar Bharati came together with key figures from the music industry at a roundtable event hosted by Spotify India. The event focused on exploring areas of collaboration with the government to promote and support India's burgeoning creative economy.
The initiative was spearheaded by Spotify India's Managing Director, Amarjit Batra, along with his team members Dhruvank, Bandbaaja, Vasuness, and others. Together, they successfully curated a balanced dialogue between music creators, industry leaders, and businesses. The discussions covered a wide range of topics pertinent to India's creative sector, including the need for policy support, public-private partnerships, and innovative approaches to promote homegrown music talent.
This strategic dialogue comes as MyGovIndia prepares for the highly anticipated WAVE Summit India, which is set to be the largest media and entertainment conclave in the country. With the industry expected to take center stage at the summit, this roundtable could not have come at a better time.
As the Indian government continues to recognize the creative economy's potential as a significant driver of growth, the event underscored its commitment to fostering greater collaboration between the public and private sectors. Attendees emphasized the importance of government support in shaping the future of India's music industry through policies and frameworks that encourage innovation and artistic expression.
The discussions were marked by a shared optimism about the future, with participants voicing their intent to work closely with the government to ensure sustainable growth and development in the sector. With both sides pledging ongoing collaboration, the roundtable set the stage for more meaningful conversations, stronger public-private partnerships, and actionable steps to propel India’s creative economy forward.
As the countdown to the WAVE Summit continues, this event highlighted the music industry's pivotal role in India’s cultural and economic future.
