With Nearly Half His Spotify Listeners Made Up of Gen Z, Anuv Jain Comes Home to His Fans
Spotify hosted an exclusive fan experience for singer-songwriter Anuv Jain in New Delhi, bringing together some of the artist's most dedicated listeners for an intimate evening titled 'Coming Home to Anuv Jain'. Curated exclusively for Spotify Premium subscribers, the event celebrated the deep connection between the independent artist and his global fanbase.
Anuv currently attracts more than 18 million monthly listeners on Spotify, with India remaining his biggest market. His music has also found a strong international audience, particularly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Among his biggest hits, Jo Tum Mere Ho remains his most-streamed song on Spotify, spending 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Spotify India's Weekly Top Songs chart. Husn emerged as the second most-streamed song in Spotify Wrapped India 2024 and has remained on Spotify India's Weekly Top Songs chart for more than 130 weeks. Meanwhile, Arz Kiya Hai continues to perform strongly, currently ranking No. 2 on Spotify Top Songs India while featuring in the Top 10 City Charts across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Entry to the event was reserved for Spotify Premium subscribers, with invitations awarded through an in-app quiz that tested fans' knowledge of Anuv's music. Nearly half of Anuv's listeners on Spotify are Gen Z (18–24 years), while Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata rank among his biggest listener hubs.
During the evening, Anuv reflected on his musical journey and the role Spotify has played in helping audiences discover his music.
"It's an incredible feeling to know that my songs have found a place in people's lives. That's always been the most meaningful part of making music for me. Spotify has been part of that journey from the very beginning, helping listeners discover my music through playlists and introducing my songs to new audiences over the years. Getting to meet the people behind the streams, hear their stories, and share these moments with them is something I'll never take for granted. Those connections remind me why I started making music in the first place – to make people feel something," he said.
The event also gave fans a closer look into Anuv's creative process. He revealed that his passion for writing began before music, inspired by poetry, painting and sketching. Speaking about his songwriting approach, he shared that he rarely repeats verses or choruses, preferring to let every lyric move the story forward.
He also discussed his fascination with space, explaining how late-night documentaries inspired Antariksh, while describing Inaam as one of his most underrated songs and the first track where he wrote about himself rather than love. Reflecting on Maula, Anuv said the song emerged from a place of profound grief and remains one of the most personal compositions of his career.
Beyond the conversation, the singer spent time interacting one-on-one with attendees, signing memorabilia, including a fan's guitar, and personally thanking fans who had travelled from across the country with handwritten notes.
Spotify has supported Anuv's journey since featuring him on its Chai & Acoustic playlist in 2019, followed by Baarishein appearing on the platform's flagship Indie India playlist in 2020. Since then, the singer has remained a regular presence across Spotify's editorial playlists, charts and Wrapped campaigns, reflecting his continued rise as one of India's leading independent artists.
