Loudest Wishes to Shekhar Ravjiani

Shekhar Ravjiani is an Indian Music Director, famous as one half of the power duo Vishal - Shekhar. He is known for composing songs for many movies like Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, Befikre, Sultan and many other. He is an exceptionally gifted singer and composer. Has judged many reality singing shows like Indian Idol, Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa with Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal. I remember watching Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa back when I was a child. Among all the judges back then which included Himesh Reshamiya, Ismail Darbar and Bappi Lahiri, my favorites were Vishal-Shekhar of which Shekhar was always the nicest and the easiest to like. Encouraging, positive and always helping the participants move forward. That’s always the kind of an idol and mentor you want. Happy Birthday sir! Shekhars Words of Wisdom 

Shekhar believed that we always went on the road less taken. He said as a child he lost many competitions, it went to college and he lost many more.  In 1997, he was a participant at Sa Re Ga Ma Pa where he didn’t win but today he stands tall having won many awards for his compositions and songs.

Rise to Fame

Shekhar Ravjiani is a trained classical singer. He studied his craft under Ustad Niaz Ahmed Khan. He learned to play the accordion from his father, a music enthusiast, Hasmukh Ravjiani. Back in the day, Shekhar used to do a lot of advertising jingles and Vishal was very much involved with his band, Pentagram. They two were introduced through a mutual friend, Shiraz, a member of the band. Later on, by sheer coincidence, they happened to be working on the same film in 1999. The Vishal-Shekhar power duo was born there. The film at the time was Pyaar Main Kabhi Kabhi but Shekhar believes Jhankar Beats is where the real work began. He composed and sung Marathi songs "Saazni" in 2012 and "Saavli" (with Sunidhi Chauhan) in 2013. After which he sang many popular songs in different languages. Not just that, he has till date been a judge at 9 music reality shows, acted and collaborated with a Brit Pop band. Oh yeah! You read right, the duo wrote a song called “Baliya” that featured Brit Pop band The Vamps last year. That’s not it, the song has almost 1.5 million views on YouTube. Shekhar in 2017

This year Shekhar released a song called ‘Devi’. The song he says was inspired by a village he came across in Madhya Pradhesh where the entire village celebrates the birth of a girl child by planting a tree.

“Every songwriter has a story that inspires them and they want to tell”, Sekhar said. He also added, “I was disappointed that many people assumed that this had a mythological approach towards looking at this song even without listening to it”. But we at Loudest loved the approach, and thank Shekhar for supported such noble thoughts.
