Pandora Introduces 'Play on Pandora' Feature For Instagram Stories
Pandora, the American music streaming and internet radio platform recently published a new blog post stating its users can now share their favorite songs, albums, podcasts, playlists or Pandora stations with their Instagram followers using the new "Play on Pandora" feature which has now become available to users across all tiers of service. Although, this new sharing option has only been made available to select users for now and will slowly reach more and more people over the next few weeks. The brand-new integrated feature brings the good old experience of adding music in your story to Pandora that apps like SoundCloud, Spotify, and JioSaavn have had for a while. Upon clicking the 'Share' button, the user can choose the 'Instagram Stories' option and the album art will be instantly added to the Instagram Story in the form of a minimal-looking card with Pandora's logo at the bottom right corner along with other metadata information like the Song Title and the Artist Name. Viewers of this story will then have the option to click on 'Play On Pandora' and stream the same music on their device. Going in detail about how users can unlock the full potential of the app and this feature, the blog post reads "When your friends on Instagram see the Cover Art card you’ve shared, they can tap “Play on Pandora” and get direct access to that content, as well as Pandora’s full music and podcast library. Friends who don’t already have a Pandora Premium account can access your shared content plus a session of free, unlimited, on-demand music and podcasts after viewing a short ad thanks to Pandora’s Premium Access feature. Nothing brings people together like sharing great music (and podcasts), and now all Pandora users can share their favorites with friends through Instagram Stories and spread the joy!" Sharing music on Instagram has to be one of the oldest Internet trends that never really seemed to wear off. From posting screenshots of the music player on your feed to putting them up as a story and now directly sharing them from the app is how this fad has stayed bustling over the years. Back in May 2019, the music streaming app, JioSaavn also announced its new 'Listen on JioSaavn' feature which allows you to not only share music on your Instagram stories but also on your Facebook stories. Following this news, the company also announced a collaboration with Snapchat that would allow users to share what they are listening to from the JioSaavn app to Snapchat and will help increase the discovery of Indian music through the use of creative tools and features like lenses and filters. Instagram's very own Music sticker option has also played a prominent part in popularizing the idea of including songs in stories, although this sticker is still not available in a lot of regions including India even though a rollout was expected shortly after the announcement back in May 2018.  In other news, just like its rivals, Pandora also seems to be giving Podcasts some much-deserved attention now as it announced the launch of its Self Service online hub, Pandora for Podcasters back in August '19. "With Pandora for Podcasters, now even more creators can join our rich catalog of top podcasts with a new streamlined process that allows them to make their podcasts available to Pandora’s millions of listeners in just a few simple steps," is what the article said. Furthermore, it talked about why Pandora is a better host for podcasts by saying "What makes Pandora the best place for podcasters looking to find and build a loyal audience is the unique way we connect our listeners to podcasts that we know they’ll like. Podcasts on Pandora is powered by the Podcast Genome Project, which helps listeners cut through the overwhelming clutter of available podcasts to simply, easily find the podcasts they love."
