Gaana Third To Introduce Voice Assistant Feature
If you thought Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant were enough for your hands-free music requirements, you can expand your horizon alongside your playlist. Music app Gaana has taken a lead in the Indian market to bring a Voice assistant on its platform. This feature has been in beta for the last 3 months and seeing overwhelming success. Post the success of its beta version run that lasted for three months, the app has released this feature on its Android version with the iOS version coming in soon. Gaana supports 13 languages so users will be able to use their native language to play songs using Voice as a primary action medium. Users can play a particular song by saying ‘Play Kala Chasma’ or play playlists by saying ‘Play Party songs’ or even play songs by their favorite artists by saying ‘Play Prateek Kuhad’s songs’ etc. This is a great feature for the next 100 million users from the rural background who will be coming on the internet and might not be well versed to navigate it through text. Voice search in 13 languages will even enable the users with a basic smartphone. Prashan Agarwal, CEO Gaana, said,
We believe voice to be the next frontier in technology evolution and want to bring the convenience of voice assistant to our users. Now a user can use his Voice to play songs of his choice on Gaana. This is also a critical feature as the next 100 mn customers coming on the internet will be from rural India and will use Voice as their primary tool to navigate interfaces. This is in line with our philosophy to bring the latest innovation to the Indian customer.

Strategic Move

Gaana currently has around 60 million monthly active users and this initiative will add to its recent collaboration with Google Home. To provide an all-around experience to their users, Gaana streams on Chromecast and Andriod TV. The idea is to provide convenience and ambient outreach to Gaana’s home user and make their music listening experience better. This announcement came after Hungama and Saavn launched a Voice Assistant on their platform, making them third on the block. Besides Hungama and Saavn, Gaana competes with Wynk, Apple Music and BookMyShow amongst others in the Indian market.
