Four acclaimed filmmakers—Onir, Rima Das, Imtiaz Ali, and Kabir Khan—have collaborated on My Melbourne, an anthology that delves into stories of identity in Melbourne, Australia. The film explores themes of diversity, sexuality, gender, disability, and race, offering a powerful narrative on inclusivity.
Following the positive reception of the trailer, music maestro A.R. Rahman has now unveiled the anthology’s first track, Rukhna Nahi. The song is a stirring anthem of empowerment and unity, performed by Afghan-born musician Aryana Sayeed, who makes her Hindi singing debut with this track. Based in London, Aryana is widely recognized for her contributions to women’s rights and is a cultural icon in Afghanistan’s music landscape. The song’s lyrics and composition are by Anurag Sharma.
Set to release on March 14, 2025, My Melbourne brings together the creative visions of these celebrated Indian filmmakers, each telling a distinct story that celebrates cultural identity and belonging. With A.R. Rahman’s musical brilliance and Aryana Sayeed’s soulful voice, Rukhna Nahi sets the stage for an anthology that promises to be a cinematic and musical tribute to diversity and unity.
