Megastar DJ/Producer Diplo Launches New House Music Label 'Higher Ground'
The man behind the visionary electronic music label 'Mad Decent', Thomas Wesley Pentz aka Diplo has decided to launch yet another music label called 'Higher Grounds' that we're assuming derives its name from the House EP that Wes dropped earlier this year featuring collaborations with Tove Lo & Kah-Lo and this one, just like the EP will focus on all things House music. Diplo has been open to blending and mixing genres in his work ever since he started his career as a musician. From working with Mia on 'Paper Planes' in 2007, to remixing the hit country/hip-hop song 'Old Town Road', the producer has made it quite apparent that he has a genuine love for all kinds of music and being familiar with the significance of House Music in the dance music space, the label doesn't really come as a surprise. Elaborating on the same, in a press release, he says "House is where it all came from. Everything we know and love as dance music today started with the masters in Chicago and Detroit almost 40 years ago. The genre has always been incredibly important to me, and Higher Ground is our homage to the legends and opportunity to champion new sounds and artists from around the world pushing the genre forward." The label was launched on social media with a fresh new page featuring teasers of the first upcoming release that will hit the stores on 4th September. This leading project is a bouncy two-track EP called 'Rave Grave' by Brooklyn based duo, Walker and Royce which is going to feature the following tracks, 'Rave Grave' on Side A which happens to be a collaboration with Newport Beach native, VNSSA and 'The Biznes' on Side B. These posts received playful and hilarious comments like 'so excite', 'first' and 'sick ambient label' from Diplo himself.

Along with this EP, the label plans on releasing singles from Diplo, Lisbon's DJEFF, France's Born Dirty, German duo Andhim, and a new duo called Sidepiece. A lot of people who keep up with the trends in the electronic music scene seem to believe that we are witnessing a renascence of House Music and keeping that in mind, the launch of a new house music label doesn't really seem like a bad idea. One fan even went on to accuse Diplo of "hitching his wagon" amidst the revival of this prime music genre but it's decisions like this only that has allowed him to stay not only relevant but a key player in the industry for such a long period of time.
