Reportedly, Google is developing a YouTube Music extension for Gemini, its in-house AI-powered chatbot akin to ChatGPT. This integration aims to enable users to search for and listen to their favorite songs and discover new music.
As per a recent Android Authority report, the feature was initially discovered by the well-known Android enthusiast Assemble Debug. He managed to activate the YouTube Music extension within the Google app v15.17.28.29.arm64.
Once activated, the YouTube Music extension within Gemini allows users to play and search for songs and playlists, explore new music, and even enjoy mood-based radio stations. It's reported that Gemini leverages data such as playlists, playback history, and preferences from the user's YouTube Music account.
Visible on Gemini's Extension page, the YouTube Music extension also provides search results from YouTube and seamlessly opens the YouTube Music app if installed. Alternatively, if the app isn't available, Gemini directs users to the web version of the music service.
Although the functionality isn't currently active in Google Gemini, the report indicates that Google plans to launch the extension soon. To summarize, Google's AI chatbot already offers several useful extensions like Flights, Maps, YouTube, and Hotels. Additionally, Google appears to be developing new shortcuts for Gemini, including options to switch back to Google Assistant, deactivate Gemini Advanced, and toggle "Live prompts."
The platform promises enhanced capabilities to identify emerging talents, discern evolving trends, and gain deeper insights into content performance.
