Instagram Now Allows Users To Change Music On Published Posts And Carousels

Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows users to change the music on feed posts and carousel posts even after they have been published, without affecting existing likes, comments, shares or reach.

The update gives creators the ability to replace the audio on an already published post by tapping Edit and selecting a new track, eliminating the need to delete and re-upload content simply to update its soundtrack.

The new functionality offers greater creative flexibility, enabling users to refresh older posts with trending songs or swap music that no longer aligns with their content. By retaining all existing engagement metrics, the feature also helps creators preserve the performance of their posts while adapting to changing trends.

The update is expected to be particularly useful for creators and brands that rely on music to boost discoverability and audience engagement, allowing them to optimize content without sacrificing accumulated interactions.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the feature in a recent post, highlighting the platform's continued efforts to give creators more control over their content after publication.

The rollout marks another addition to Instagram's creator-focused toolkit, making it easier for users to keep their posts current while maintaining the reach and engagement they have already built.
