Saregama Pays Tribute To Nergish, Who Served The Music Label For Over Five Decades

Saregama has paid tribute to Nergish, a long-standing member of the company whose association with the music label spanned more than five decades. The company announced her passing through an emotional social media post on October 12, remembering her as an integral part of its history and musical legacy.

In its tribute, Saregama described Nergish as someone who was much more than an employee, calling her an inseparable part of the organisation’s fabric. The post highlighted her close association with legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, describing her as a key link to a musical era that shaped the company’s journey.

According to Saregama, Nergish was often the first point of contact for the legendary singers and carried an extensive collection of stories, anecdotes and memories from her years with the organisation.

“She was formidable,” the company wrote, recalling her strong presence across conversations, meetings and office corridors. Saregama also remembered her for maintaining high standards and protecting the organisation with unwavering commitment.

“There are people who work at a company. And then there are people who are the company. Nergish was one of them,” the tribute read, capturing her enduring association with the music label.

The company further noted that Nergish had wanted to remain with Saregama until her last breath, adding that she stayed true to that commitment.

Her passing marks the loss of a figure who witnessed several decades of the Indian music industry’s evolution and was closely connected to the people and stories behind its musical heritage.

Concluding its tribute, Saregama expressed gratitude for her contribution and remembered her with affection, saying she would be deeply missed.
