Spotify Launches New Subscription Plans In India, Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia And South Africa

Spotify has rolled out a revamped lineup of subscription plans across India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE, effective 13 November 2025. The streaming giant says the new model is aimed at addressing “distinct listener needs” it identified in these fast-growing regions.

India, in particular, emerged as a priority market. Users here have long been asking for features already available elsewhere, especially lossless audio and AI-driven listening tools. Spotify’s updated offerings bring both to the table.

Current premium subscribers will not see immediate changes and can continue with their existing plan. However, they now have the option to move to any of the three refreshed tiers: Premium Lite, Premium Standard, and Premium Platinum.

Premium Lite is the new entry point at Rs 139 per month, offering ad-free listening and unlimited track control, but without offline downloads.

Spotify’s existing Premium plan has been rebranded as Premium Standard, priced at Rs 199 per month. It includes offline listening and streaming at up to 320 kbps. This represents the second price revision in India within three months, the tier rose from Rs 119 to Rs 139 in August, ending a five-year streak of stable pricing.

Students get a discounted version of Premium Standard at Rs 99 per month, up from Rs 69 earlier.

The most significant upgrade comes with Premium Platinum, which launches at Rs 299 per month. It adds lossless audio, introduced in 50 countries in October, along with the company’s advanced AI features such as AI DJ, AI-powered playlists, mixing tools, and compatibility with popular DJ software. Unlike the previous individual plans, Platinum also extends usage to two additional household members.

This structure differs from Spotify’s existing Duo (Rs 179) and Family (Rs 229) plans, which cater specifically to shared accounts for two and up to six people, respectively.

The launch comes a day after Spotify discontinued its annual individual premium offer, which was priced at Rs 499 for 12 months until 12 November.

Meanwhile, competition in India’s streaming market remains steady: JioSaavn continues to price its Pro plan at Rs99 per month, while YouTube Music Premium holds at Rs119 per month.
