Sony Music India has launched StampEight, a new vinyl and merchandise platform aimed at strengthening fan engagement and expanding the growing culture of music collectibles in India.
The launch coincided with the return of the company’s The Vinyl Pop-Up event series on Record Store Day, signalling Sony Music India’s increasing focus on physical music formats and direct-to-fan experiences.
StampEight will offer vinyl records across genres along with official artist merchandise from global acts including AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Pink Floyd and Cypress Hill. While some vinyl releases are available through other online retailers, Sony says StampEight will serve as an exclusive destination in India for official merchandise linked to these artists.
The move comes amid a broader rise in music-led lifestyle commerce in the country. Earlier this year, The Noise Culture partnered with Universal Music Group’s merchandising division Bravado to launch artist merchandise and tour collections in India, featuring acts such as Def Leppard, Enrique Iglesias, Guns N' Roses, Post Malone and Yungblud.
Industry observers note that merchandise demand at live concerts in India has grown sharply in recent years, particularly for legacy rock and international pop acts, with merchandise counters frequently selling out during tours and festivals.
With StampEight, Sony Music India is tapping into this growing appetite for fandom-driven commerce, where merchandise and collectibles are increasingly becoming symbols of identity and cultural belonging, extending fan engagement beyond streaming and live events.
