Not missing a beat this World Music Day, BookASmile hosts a special Drum Circle for youth

BookASmile, the charity initiative of BookMyShow partnered with Dhunn and Snehavardhini Social Trust to spread smiles through the magic of music, keeping entertainment at the heart of it all .

The BookMyShow office reverberated with the resounding drumming of djembes and the sheer joy that lit up the faces of young beneficiaries from tribal communities at the Drum Circle hosted yesterday.

In the run-up to World Music Day’, BookASmile, the charity initiative of India’s leading entertainment destination, BookMyShow partnered with Dhunn, The Drum Circle and Snehavardhini Social Trust to host a special Drum Circle for the tribal youth community from the town of Roha (Raigad district) in Maharashtra and spread smiles through the magic of music. Employees of BookMyShow joined the beneficiaries in an evening of revelry and dancing to the beats of their music, in what was a heart-warming and fun evening held at BookMyShow House, Mumbai.

This initiative is an extension of BookASmile’s core belief in fostering overall personality development that goes beyond textbook and classroom education by taking entertainment experiences across music, cinema, theatre, sports and art to less fortunate communities. Through the Drum Circle, BookASmile created a circle of inclusion, togetherness, rhythm and sync; messages that were infused through music that breaks all boundaries.

Commenting on the initiative, Farzana Cama Balpande, Head – BookASmile, said, “Entertainment can bring out many different emotions in individuals across the spectrum, but it also leaves you with a distinct slice-of-life experience each time. At BookASmile, creating entertainment-led-experiences is a natural extension of our aim to help spread joy and happiness while also contributing to the personality development of individual and community, creating a small but impactful difference in their lives, one smile at a time. Collaborating with ‘Dhunn’ and ‘Snehavardhini Social Trust’, we are humbled to be able to bring the experience of this ‘Drum Circle’ to young beneficiaries from tribal communities and it was a treat to engage with them along with our BookMyShow family, in such an immersive format where we saw the power of music come alive, brightening up everyone’s day! We feel privileged to be able to host such experiences and bring moments of joy into their lives and we will continue to offer more such unique experiences in times to come.”

Synonymous with Music Therapy, the novel approach of a Drum Circle aims at spreading joy by offering an opportunity to everyone to express themselves through music. It empowers equality and includes people of all ages, creating a new, collective voice as they drum together.
