Global EDM artist PIA has released a visually striking new music video for her track Zukacoa, drawing inspiration from the gothic cinematic worlds of filmmakers Tim Burton and Guillermo del Toro. The video, now streaming on YouTube and major platforms, blends dark fantasy aesthetics with psychological storytelling, presenting a cinematic narrative that feels more like a visual poem than a conventional music clip.
Zukacoa unfolds against a shadowy, labyrinthine backdrop as PIA portrays a lone hunter on a symbolic journey of self-reclamation. Rather than focusing on revenge, the storyline emphasizes inner strength and autonomy, with the protagonist confronting past traumas and evolving through her own resolve. The video’s gothic imagery amplifies emotional depth, using fantasy and visual world-building to mirror themes of vulnerability and empowerment.
For PIA, who has made her mark by weaving cinematic narratives into her musical projects, the gothic style is not just an aesthetic choice but a storytelling tool that accommodates complex emotions. She personally performed her own stunts in the video, reinforcing a sense of physical and symbolic immersion.
Director Joe Sill, whose portfolio includes work for major global brands, explained that the project aimed to “hold beauty and terror in the same frame,” reflecting creative influences from Burton and del Toro, known for their ability to blend fantastical visuals with emotional resonance.
Zukacoa is now available on all major streaming platforms, with the full music video live on YouTube.
