Oscar-winning composer A. R. Rahman has reunited with singer Sonu Nigam for 'Oh Tabassum', a new song from the upcoming film Batwara 1947. Rahman shared the update on X, revealing that Nigam has recorded the romantic track and praising his soulful rendition.
Penned by Javed Akhtar, the song marks another collaboration between Rahman and Nigam, whose musical partnership spans nearly three decades. The duo has previously delivered memorable tracks including Shabba Shabba (Daud), Satrangi Re (Dil Se), the title track of Saathiya, and Mera Rang De Basanti (The Legend of Bhagat Singh).
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947,previously titled Lahore 1947,stars Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi. The film reunites Deol and Santoshi following acclaimed films such as Ghayal and Damini.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film explores the human cost of the Partition of India in 1947. Its teaser, released earlier this year, features a voice-over by Aamir Khan and offers a glimpse into the emotional and violent upheaval surrounding the historic event. Alongside the lead cast, the film also features Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur.
