Lollapalooza India 2024 Kicks Off With A Bang As Fans Cheer The Jonas Brothers And Halsey!

After the roaring success of the inaugural edition of Asia’s largest multi-genre music festival hosted in India, Lollapalooza India returned with an even more epic second edition that kickstarted in the eighth destination of the festival, in Mumbai, India with excitement reverberating across the nation! The raised decibels and increased tempo coupled with an unparalleled world class experience on day one, set the stage for yet another phenomenal edition. Vivacious energy, thrilled fans including the loyal #LollaSquad and new faces, festive colours coming to life and a production set-up like no other, have made the long weekend worthwhile.

BookMyShow Live, the live entertainment experiential division of BookMyShow, India’s leading entertainment destination has spearheaded Lollapalooza India as the promoter and co-producer for the festival’s Indian edition along with global producers, Perry Farrell and C3 Presents.

The iconic Mahalaxmi Race Course turned into a captivating haven for all music enthusiasts, as global icons and pop sensations, Jonas Brothers did not ‘Hesitate’ before ‘Burnin’ Up’ the newly revamped BUDX stage. In utmost anticipation for the much-loved brothers, the audience went into a frenzy and broke into a sing-along to Priyanka Chopra’s hit single Gallan Goodiyaan before the act went live. As the iconic band took the stage, Nick Jonas addressed fans laying bare their excitement around performing in India for the first time ever, while jokingly reminiscing about his own sangeet performance. The trio kept the crowds singing along in unison as they rolled one hit after the other including ‘S.O.S., ‘Waffle House’, ‘Cake By The Ocean’, ‘Sucker’ and more. The highlight of the act was when Indian rapper King joined Nick Jonas on stage to groove to his chart-topper ‘Maan Meri Jaan’. The quintessential national jiju as the crowds fondly called him was greeted with ‘Love You Nick’, ‘Don’t be Jealous Priyanka’ and ‘We are a Sucker for you, Jonas Bros’ posters high up in the air pumped up the unmatched energy.

Young, influential and unconventional pop, alternative, electro-pop singer-songwriter, Halsey made a smashing debut in the country. Cheering the crowd on, she thanked them for their wholehearted support specially calling out her wide fan base in India being one of the largest after her homebase. With her stunning sound, unparalleled energy and a visual performance treat, she belted out chart-toppers ‘Now Or Never’, ‘Without Me’, ‘Closer’, ‘Graveyard’ leaving the crowd stunned.

Inimitable sound rockers Royal Blood spun magic with their beats, bold. Ben Thatcher, the lead drummer pulled a surprise crowd surf. Pop phenomenon and singer-songwriter Lauv returned to the country with a performance that was nothing short of magic swooning to everyone’s awe and delight. After a heartful hug on stage with Indian singer composer Armaan Malik, he gracefully shook hands with the crowd after a top-class performance leaving audiences cheering loud.

Global festival favourite, hip-hop record producer-DJ Kenny Beats, eclectic, psychedelic and pop music blending Caribou and one of the most vital standard-bearers of modern African music Fatoumata Diawara who introduced new sounds to India and folk beats, sent crowds ravishing in excitement and dancing the evening away at Lollapalooza India 2024.

Both global and homegrown artists won over festival fans with their unique sounds and specially curated sets for Lollapalooza India 2024. From popular homegrown artists like Kamakshi Khanna, the melodious harmony of Long Distances, homegrown favourites - multilingual indie-folk alternative band When Chai Met Toast, popular house techno artist Dualist Inquiry who presented a symphonic display of music with live instruments, crowd favourites The Karan Kanchan Experience brought in a whirlwind of talent with Yashraj, Kayan, Hanumankind, Rashmeet Kaur, along with others joining him on stage with a symphony of beats. Israeli alternative indie electronic pop sound masters Garden City Movement along with Jatayu and Skrat, India’s most sought after contemporary Indian folk band The Raghu Dixit Project with a troop of over 30 dancers to hidden gems including Dewdrops - the rocksteady reggae band from the heart of Meghalaya and Delhi’s Sublime Sound dug deep into the surface of club sounds and traditional dance floor soundscapes driven by styles like breakbeat and techno - all put together an impressive multi-genre sonic treat that impressed audiences and how.

Actress Taapsee Pannu, director Abhishek Kapoor with wife Pragya Kapoor, singers Jonita Gandhi and Lisa Mishra,  legendary actor Jackie Shroff, nation’s heartthrob Aditya Roy Kapur, influencer Raj Shamani, internet sensation Orry, singer & songwriter Prateek Kuhad and Ankush Bahuguna were seen enjoying the performances on day one of Lollapalooza India 2024.

With innovation at its core and a commitment to bring the best of the world to Indian entertainment enthusiasts, BookMyShow Live unveiled a never-seen-before, cutting-edge VerTech stage acquired from Star Live, global live event infrastructure leader, in a landmark move set to transform India's live entertainment industry. Festival attendees witnessed this historic stage being unveiled at Lollapalooza India 2024 as the BUDX main stage featuring headliner acts including Jonas Brothers. The stage carries a capacity of 50 tonnes, a massive increase from the conventional 15 tonnes that Indian production set-ups are usually familiar with.

Lollapalooza India this year returned with an even more immersive on-ground experience starting with the nostalgic Lollapalooza inflatable with the Indian flag flying high alongside the seven other nations. The iconic inflatable welcomed fans once again into the festival as they were beaming with pride about the mark that India has created on the global entertainment map.

One of the highlights of the evening was BookMyShow’s interactive installation which was a creative spin on Whack-A-Mole called ‘All The Right Moves’ that will feature the thrilling pit-stops one must have on their entertainment calendar in 2024 across music, comedy, activities and more!

A host of engaging and interactive games introduced this year ranged from Cat Rack, Hoop Shot, Buzzwire, Dino Squad, Basketball, Lobster Pot, Ring Toss and interactive live caricature painting which were a hit with all age groups. What better way to unwind between music on a leisure weekend afternoon, than the comfort of the Big Top and Small Top tents beautifully designed by Aaquib Wani Design which all festival attendees truly enjoyed while getting into the ‘Lolla vibe’. The Lolla Swings were a big hit with festival goers literally swaying to the tunes of the festival, against the backdrop of the eye-catching Heart of Lolla exhibit.

The Lolla Food Park, a buzzing gastronomic extravaganza which was largely plastic free offering a culinary treat of over 50 handpicked F&B brands across diverse categories, standing as the largest food park ever created for a live music event in the country with specially curated lanes like "Mumbai Local,” "Taste The World," "Foodie Fiesta" and "Lolla On Wheels". Apart from exclusive Lolla-themed dishes not available anywhere else, the Lolla Food Park also introduced the much-loved, must-have dessert fix through the specially designed Lolla Cookie Merch counter for the first time.
