Warner Bros. Discovery Announces 'Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood' (w/t) As Next Installment In Hit 'vs' Series

The fourth installment of Warner Bros. Discovery’s acclaimed 'vs' series, TAYLOR SWIFT VS SCOOTER BRAUN: BAD BLOOD (working title), premieres on discovery+ on July 4, 2024, for Indian audiences. This docu-series continues the highly successful ‘vs’ format, following in the footsteps of "Johnny vs Amber," "Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce," and "Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial."

Produced by Optomen, this two-part docu-series dives into the intense feud between global pop superstar Taylor Swift and music industry mogul Scooter Braun, focusing on the $300 million controversy that erupted when Braun acquired the rights to Swift’s first six albums in June 2019.

In line with the ‘vs’ format, the series presents both sides of the story. The first episode explores Swift’s perspective, highlighting her claims that the sale was conducted without her knowledge and that she has been obstructed from buying back her masters. The second episode examines Braun’s viewpoint, including his accusations that Swift refused to negotiate and instead sparked a public conflict by rallying her fan base against him.

Viewers will gain a thorough understanding of the dispute, delving into the complexities of music ownership, gender dynamics in the industry, and the influence of fandom. The series aims to present the polarized perspectives, allowing audiences to form their own opinions.

Featuring insights from legal experts, journalists, and individuals close to both Swift and Braun, the access-driven docu-series provides a balanced view of the argument.

Charlotte Reid, Vice President of Commissioning, Networks & Streaming at WBD U.K. & Ireland, stated: “Taylor Swift's dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, bringing contract law from the boardroom to social media and capturing public interest. It’s a high-profile, compelling story that spurred debates on fandom and dominated headlines. This will resonate with our viewers who are highly engaged with access-led documentaries like ‘vs’, a format that continues to be popular on discovery+.”
