Legendary Drummer Dave Weckl to headline Jazz India Circuit Delhi Edition

Teamwork Arts’ Jazz India Circuit (JIC) 2017-18 season announces the first of its twin concerts slotted for the national capital as part of the JIC Delhi edition. To be held at One Golden Mile, on the 17th and 18th of February, the much-awaited Delhi edition will be headlined by legendary drummer Dave Weckl along with leading jazz players from Denmark, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Israel and India. The 2017-18 season of the Jazz India Circuit, organised by performing arts entertainment company Teamwork Arts, is all about getting into the groove, the subtleties of rhythm, and the power of percussion with legendary jazz drummers headlining an electrifying series of concerts across the country.  Announcing the first leg of Jazz India Circuit’s Delhi Edition, Sanjoy Roy, M.D, Teamwork Arts said,
We are delighted to have the jazz season roll into Delhi. Jazz India Circuit is a dynamic musical journey and with each performance, the performing legends lend momentum to it. Our effort is to get the best of jazz to discerning audiences and include more cities under the JIC fold.
The JIC 2017-18 season has brought to India some of the finest percussionists and drummers this edition; the season began with Scandinavian drumming exponent Joost Lijbaart performing at the JIC Launch Concert at Gurugram, and then went onto witnessing the legendary Jojo Mayer at the Goa International Jazz Live Festival.  The upcoming concert at the JIC Delhi edition takes the set to a whole new level with Dave Weckl. While Jojo Mayer is considered to be a legend of experimental cutting-edge jazz, Dave Weckl leans towards the classical aspect of the genre.  Both of them are legends in their own right performing in India for the first time. Named by Modern Drummer magazine as "one of the 25 best drummers of all time”, Dave Weckl's dynamic and diverse drumming is built on a foundation of knowledge and passion. Weckl will be collaborating with some of the finest musicians in India including Mohini Dey, Abhijith Nair, Sandeep Mohan and Joe Johnson. Mohini has been described as a prodigy by many acclaimed musicians; she started learning the bass guitar at the age of 3, performed at concerts and recordings at the age of 10, and now at 17, is an extraordinary bass player playing across the world with celebrated musicians. This collaboration will indeed be a crackling fusion of sounds. With all this and more, there is much to look forward at Jazz India Circuit’s Delhi edition. Tickets available on https://insider.in/jazz-india-circuit-feat-dave-weckl-delhi-feb17-18-2018/event
