JioSaavn has surpassed 500 million downloads on the Google Play Store, a key milestone for the India-based music streaming platform founded in 2007. The company says the achievement underscores its position as one of the country’s most widely used streaming services, competing with Gaana and global players like Spotify and Apple Music.
JioSaavn is now the second most downloaded entertainment app in India, behind JioHotstar, which has crossed 1 billion downloads. Both services sit within Reliance Industries’ growing Jio digital ecosystem.
The milestone comes as the platform reported over 100 million monthly active users tuning in to a catalogue of more than 100 million tracks across 15 languages. However, its MAU count has remained largely flat since the 104 million reported in 2019.
The company credits its renewed momentum to several feature upgrades, especially personalised recommendations, UI improvements, and curated listening. Recent additions include a revamped home feed, Daily Mixes tailored for individual users, and From the Community, which highlights playlists created by listeners across India. Enhanced multilingual search has also been rolled out.
Pricing appears to be another growth driver. JioSaavn Pro, its premium tier, has been offered at deep discounts Rs 9 for two months or Rs 399 annually during promotions. Standard pricing sits at Rs 89 per month or Rs 749 per year, still well below Spotify Premium’s Rs 199 monthly tier. The company said these offers saw “strong consumer response” and drove record engagement.
A Pro subscription grants users ad-free listening, unlimited downloads and skips, endless autoplay, and full access to JioTunes.
“With this milestone, JioSaavn enters its next phase of growth with renewed momentum and focus on enhancing user experience,” the company said, adding that it aims to continue elevating its product through innovation and strategic partnerships.
The news comes at a time when India’s premium audio and video streams grew 43.9% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, according to Luminate. While India leads in total streams across APAC and A&Z, fewer than 20% come from paid accounts, among the lowest in the region.
The competitive landscape has also tightened. Multiple platforms have exited the market in recent years: Hungama shut down its music service in April, following ByteDance’s Resso (January 2024) and Wynk Music (August 2024).
As JioSaavn accelerates its next phase of growth, its 500 million-download milestone signals both scale and staying power in an increasingly consolidated streaming market.
