DotBlockchain Ties Up With Warner Music Group
Blockchain startup - DotBlockchain have acquired their first ever high profile partner in Warner Music Group. From now on Warner Chappell publishing and WMG labels will collaborate with DotBlockchain to create a revolutionary way for record labels and publishers to form a collective truth about their media assets on the blockchain. This partnership marks the first step in modernizing the way catalogs and song rights are managed in the industry - and future-proofing delivery to the digital supply chain. As the project scales, DotBlockchain willl enable the WMG companies to harmonize, manage, store, track changes, and communicate their enormous catalog of digital assets across both the publishing and recording sides of their business, as well as to digital service providers and their fellow labels, publishers and rights organizations globally.
The future of rights management will be one in which machines will augment the work of humans and enable the music industry to work at a speed and scale fit for the digital era. Warner has fully embraced this vision, and are leading with a data-first and future-facing strategy that will benefit not only those artists and writers that they represent but the music industry as a whole.  - Benji Rogers, Chief Strategy Officer - DotBlockchain MediaCopy of Copy of Wherever there’s an opportunity to improve and modernize our practices to make our processes more efficient for our artists and songwriters, it’s well worth exploring – and I can’t think of a better p.png
This partnership will allow DotBlockchain to bundle audio files together with their metadata and add them to the blockchain, a ledger which provides a digital record (such as asset ownership) maintained without a central authority, before the song is distributed to music streaming services. This ensures that ownership rights and representation (publishing, recording and public performance data) remain permanently associated with the track and remain up to date, no matter where they go. DotBlockchain's partner Exactuals will provide the machine learning algorithm RAI which ensures that the metadata for each track is accurate and can be processed at high volume.
Vinnie Freda, Chief Data Officer of WMG, and the whole Warner team have a clear vision of what a modern media rights infrastructure should look like, and are leading the way for the entire industry. It has been great to see their vision operationalized and their valuable assets brought to a blockchain for the first time. We are honored to be selected as their partner in this initiative. - Ken Umezaki, CEO -DotBlockchain Media

Blockchain technology is being rapidly advanced via a number of open-source software projects. This pilot program utilizes the open-source Cardstack Framework to provide a cohesive user experience for onboarding new music and metadata as well as as to track amendments and approvals on the Blockchain. DotBlockchain has chosen Intel’s contribution to the Hyperledger foundation called “Hyperledger Sawtooth” as it’s core blockchain solution, in order to controls permissions, track provenance and deliver the latest metadata to participating rights holders. This initiative will be implemented in stages by the parties, initially with a limited catalog, as part of a broader initiative at WMG to constantly evolve digital data and workflow infrastructure. https://youtu.be/PRASUr1fns0
