Versatile singer Sonu Nigam to receive the Padma Shri

The names of the recipients of Padma Awards were announced by President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday. Among the awardees this year, are veteran actor Victor Banerjee, playback singer Sonu Nigam, filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi and many others. Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam will be honoured with Padma Shri. The ace singer has dedicated the award to his late mother.

Sonu Nigam, who stepped into the Indian film industry at a young age, has given several hit songs. He did playback in different regional languages including Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and many others. The news of receiving Padma Shri, made Sonu all emotional. He remembered his mom, who has been Sonu's inspiration.
