PM Modi Calls For Infrastructure, Skill Growth To Boost India's 'Concert Economy' At Odisha Conclave 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the "fabulous" Coldplay concerts held in Mumbai and Ahmedabad, emphasizing India's potential as a hub for live events. Speaking at the 'Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025' in Bhubaneswar, he urged state governments and private sectors to enhance infrastructure and skills to boost the 'concert economy.'

"India has a massive scope for live concerts. Big artists from around the world are drawn to our country," PM Modi stated. He noted the growing trend of live shows over the past decade, attributing it to India’s rich legacy of music, dance, and storytelling.

Coldplay, as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, performed five sold-out concerts across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. The band captivated audiences with seamless performances, vibrant crowds, and local touches. Frontman Chris Martin’s interactions in Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati charmed fans, as did their renditions of patriotic songs like Vande Mataram and Maa Tujhe Salaam on Republic Day.

The concerts also drew celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Jasprit Bumrah, Kartik Aaryan, Suhana Khan, Vijay Varma, and Sachin Tendulkar. Coldplay last performed in India at the 2016 Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai.

With such events gaining momentum, Modi stressed the immense possibilities in India's live music sector, marking it as a key contributor to the nation’s cultural and economic growth.
