Singer, vocal coach and voice restorer Shubhangi Tewari is celebrating her birthday today, marking another milestone in a career that seamlessly blends performance, education and vocal health. Based in Mumbai, Tewari has established herself as a versatile musician, educator and mentor whose work spans live performance, composition, coaching and voice rehabilitation.
Academically trained across multiple disciplines, Tewari holds a Diploma in Higher Education (ATCL) in Popular Vocal Music Performance from Tech Music Schools, University of West London, a Hindustani Classical Vocal Music diploma from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, a piano certification from ABRSM, London, and a postgraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Delhi.
She is the vocalist, lyricist and co-composer of the electronic and experimental music project Stereo Buddha, while also maintaining an active career as a solo artist. Her original Sanskrit compositions have been featured on Doordarshan’s programmes Vaartavali on DD News and DD National.
Beyond performance, Tewari has made a significant contribution to music education. As a consultant master trainer for the British Council’s World Voice Project for three years, she trained more than 1,400 government school teachers and worked with thousands of students, using music as a tool to promote language development, creativity, inclusivity and communication skills.
Her expertise also took her to the United Kingdom on multiple occasions, where she collaborated with schools and music organisations across cities including Manchester, Stockport, Hull, Lancaster, Morecambe and Preston as part of the World Voice initiative.
Recognised as one of the country’s sought-after vocal coaches, Tewari has mentored both aspiring and established artists. She has also trained the Gargi College Choir at the University of Delhi across multiple academic sessions and worked with the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Choir. Her teaching journey has included institutions such as Marwah School of Performing Arts, Bridge Music Academy and Bluebells International School, in addition to serving as a judge at several music competitions.
Tewari has also emerged as a specialist in vocal health. Following her presentation at the Symposium on Voice Disorders at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 2016, she has continued working closely with singers, teachers, actors and other voice professionals, helping them develop sustainable and healthy vocal techniques.
As a recording artist, her voice can be heard in the Bollywood film The Xposé on the track Catch Me If You Can and in the web series Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan. She has also lent her voice to advertising campaigns for brands including Coca-Cola, Kamdhenu, Springfit Mattresses, Terumo, Amity and several others.
Her performance career has taken her to audiences across India as well as the United Kingdom, Russia, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Over the years, she has collaborated with acts including Enochian, Artists Unlimited, The Delhi Chamber Choir, the Western Music Society of Lady Shri Ram College and the Tech Music Schools London Choir.
As she celebrates her birthday today, Shubhangi Tewari continues to inspire through her unique blend of artistry, education and vocal wellness, leaving a lasting impact on performers and music learners alike.
