Amaan Ali and Ayaan Ali Bangash Named WWF-India Ambassadors, Launch Tiger-Themed Album

Indian classical musicians Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash have been appointed Goodwill Ambassadors for WWF India as they unveil a new album celebrating tiger conservation and India’s natural heritage. The duo, internationally recognised for their sarod performances and cross-genre collaborations, announced the worldwide release of Celebrating Our Tigers, a seven-track musical tribute that champions the cause of India’s wild tiger population and critical habitats.

Celebrating Our Tigers, released in association with WWF-India, is designed as an evocative sonic journey through India’s iconic tiger landscapes, from the historic forests of Jim Corbett and Bandhavgarh to the teak groves of Pench and the biodiverse expanse of Kaziranga. The compositions capture the spirit of each region while underscoring the fragile ecosystems these big cats inhabit.

The Bangash brothers, sons of legendary sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, said the project goes beyond music, aiming to deepen listeners’ connection to nature and inspire support for conservation efforts. “Every note is a tribute to the resilience of these magnificent creatures and to those who protect them,” Amaan Ali Bangash said, highlighting the album’s intention to foster a renewed commitment to biodiversity protection. Ayaan Ali Bangash added that the experience of working with WWF-India and visiting conservation landscapes shaped the album’s emotional and narrative arc.

Dr. Sejal Worah, Programme Director at WWF-India, welcomed the musicians’ involvement, noting that their art draws attention to the majesty of India’s tigers and the landscapes they inhabit. She said the album’s blend of music and imagery will help raise awareness of ongoing threats to these ecosystems and bolster conservation outreach.

A distinctive feature of the project is its intergenerational collaboration: the track “Kabini” includes contributions from the brothers’ teenage sons, symbolising a shared family and cultural commitment to wildlife conservation.

Celebrating Our Tigers is set for release on 20 February 2026, arriving at a time when India’s tiger population is showing encouraging signs of recovery thanks to sustained conservation efforts. The album, which blends traditional instrumentation with evocative soundscapes and complemented by visual work from distinguished wildlife photographers, aims to offer both a musical homage and a call to protect India’s ecological legacy.
