TuneCore Artists Surpass $5 Billion In Earnings From Independent Music

TuneCore, the leading platform empowering self-releasing artists and owned by Paris-based music company Believe, announced that independent musicians using its platform have collectively earned over $5 billion since its founding in 2006, a first-of-its-kind milestone among music distributors for independent artists.

Founded nearly two decades ago to democratize music distribution, TuneCore has evolved into a global force helping artists monetize their music, build audiences, and sustain long-term creative careers.

“Crossing $5 billion is a defining milestone for independent music,it proves that creative freedom and financial success can go hand in hand,” said Andreea Gleeson, CEO of TuneCore. “This achievement reflects the extraordinary talent and drive of our artists worldwide.”

The milestone, achieved just 17 months after TuneCore surpassed $4 billion in artist payouts, highlights record growth driven by its TuneCore Accelerator program and Believe’s global partnerships with streaming platforms. Accelerator participants alone have generated 21 billion new streams and 2.5 billion artist discoveries over the past year, with median royalties growing fivefold.

In India,now TuneCore’s third-largest market by volume,the announcement coincides with the platform’s five-year anniversary in the region. Akhila Shankar, Head of TuneCore South Asia, said, “This milestone shows what’s possible when artists take control of their journey. Punjabi singer-songwriter Tyson Sidhu, one of TuneCore’s standout Indian artists, praised the achievement, saying, “As an independent artist, you can make all the music you want and easily upload through TuneCore. Congrats to all the artists for hitting the $5 billion mark!”
