The second day of the five-day cultural festival, HARVEST: Rhythms of the Earth, unfolded at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with a captivating blend of cultural expressions. Part of the ongoing Grameen Bharat Mahotsav, organised by NABARD under the aegis of the Department of Financial Services, HARVEST is conceptualised by Sanjeev Bhargava of SEHER. It celebrates the theme ‘Taking Rural India Forward,’ showcasing India’s diverse folklore, artistry, and musical traditions that reflect the essence of its heartland.
Day 2 began with the meditative resonance of Shankh Vadan by the Subahe Banaras Group from Uttar Pradesh, creating a serene ambiance. This was followed by the evocative melodies of Kashmiri Folk & Sufi Music by Noor Mohammad Shah, which brought the ethereal beauty of Kashmir to life. The rhythmic and acrobatic Pung Cholom by Priti Patel & Group from Manipur added an energetic twist, leaving the audience in awe. The day concluded on a spiritual high with the soul-stirring Sufiana Qawwali by Ustad Chand Afzal & Group from Delhi, earning resounding applause.
Sanjeev Bhargava, Founder and Director of Seher, added, "HARVEST is where the soul of rural India finds its voice. Each performance is a story that transcends time, blending ancient traditions with modern narratives. Day 2 has brought audiences closer to the incredible artistry and resilience of rural communities, reaffirming the festival's mission to honor and sustain these cultural treasures."
As the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav continues, HARVEST offers three more days to explore the essence of rural India. With its vibrant performances and interactive exhibits, the festival creates a unique space to celebrate and connect with the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
