Aarohi Academy Showcases Classical Richness At Ahmedabad Recital

A classical music recital and workshop organised by Aarohi Academy brought the richness of traditional Indian music to the forefront at Lions Hall in Ahmedabad.

The event featured performances by the academy’s director Dr Tejal Pathak and renowned Banaras gharana vocalist Pandit Ganeshprasad Mishra. The evening opened with a choral presentation of Nandkumar Ashtak by students, setting a devotional tone.

Pathak followed with a rendition of Raag Kalavati, blending both slow and fast-paced compositions that reflected her grounding in the Banaras tradition. Mishra, regarded as a key torchbearer of the gharana, presented a soulful thumri in Raag Pilu, marked by expressive nuance and emotional depth, which resonated strongly with the audience.

Additional performances included Kumar Girish Pandya’s rendition of Baaj Re Baaj, while a group presentation of Shankar Mahadev further elevated the spiritual ambience of the evening. Overall, the showcase highlighted the enduring appeal and depth of Hindustani classical music traditions.
