Apple customers who use the music recognition feature in the iPhone Control Center will find it a much easier experience.

Shazam has updated its app for devices running on iOS 15, MacRumours reported.

Shazam was designed in 1999 by its U.K. developers to identify the title and artist of a track when it was playing, as well as movies, TV shows and ads. After Apple bought it in 2018 for U.S.$400 million, it used Shazam features for customers to discover new music. It introduced Music Recognition as a built-in iOS feature in 2020 with iOS 14.2.

Users could seamlessly use its search engine to identify a song without having to download the Shazam app.Additional features provided real-time lyrics, similar recommendations and the option to share via social media and email.

In March 2022, a Shazam update recommended nearby concerts related to the track identified, thanks to an integration with Bandsintown which serves 68 million users. The App Store commented on the latest update: “Songs identified with Music Recognition in Control Center now sync with the Shazam App for supported users.

“Never tried it? It’s a quick and easy way to identify music in other apps, and it even works with headphones.“Get started by adding Music Recognition to Control Center from your Settings.”

In September 2021, Apple announced that the Music Recognition feature in Control Center had surpassed one billion cumulative recognitions across the iPhone and iPad since launching.
