Amazon Prime Music has increased from 2 million to 100 million songs

Amazon on Tuesday announced that it will increase the amount of ad-free music and podcasts available to Prime customers.

The e-commerce giant claims that Prime members, who previously had around 2 million songs without any ads, will now have access to over 100 million ad-free songs as well as popular podcasts.

The action is being taken as retailers seek to expand their subscription offerings by bundling entertainment services such as streaming with their flagship apps.

More than 200 million people subscribe to Amazon's fast-shipping and media service Prime across the world, including in India. Membership cost Rs. 179 for the monthly plan, Rs. 459 for the three-month plan, and Rs. 1,499 for the annual plan.

Apple revealed last month that subscribers of its music streaming service, Apple Music, had access to more than 100 million tracks. Apple Music is accessible on many different platforms, including iOS and Android, and has continually expanded its catalog, introducing new features and enhancements such as Dolby Atmos support and lossless audio streaming.
