Telecom operator Vi has partnered with audio streaming giant Spotify to bring complimentary Spotify Premium access to eligible postpaid subscribers, marking Spotify's first-ever telecom partnership in India.
Under the new collaboration, Vi Postpaid customers on select plans will receive three months of Spotify Premium at no additional cost upon activating or retaining their connection. The move is aimed at combining Vi's connectivity services with Spotify's premium music and podcast streaming experience, while strengthening Vi's growing portfolio of digital entertainment offerings.
The partnership gives eligible subscribers access to Spotify Premium's key features, including ad-free music streaming, offline downloads, unlimited skips, on-demand playback across devices, and high-quality audio streaming of up to 320 kbps. The offering allows users to enjoy uninterrupted access to Spotify's catalogue of more than 100 million songs and over 7 million podcast titles.
Commenting on the partnership, Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer, Vi, said, "Music is central to our customers' digital lives. We are thrilled to partner with Spotify to bring premium music and audio experiences to our user base. This collaboration strengthens our entertainment ecosystem, which we have built over the years by partnering with global leaders. By combining forces with Spotify, we are offering an unmatched content mix that makes Vi the top choice for subscribers."
Amarjit Batra, Managing Director, Spotify India, said the partnership is designed to make premium audio streaming more accessible to Indian consumers.
"Music is an essential part of everyday life for millions of Indians, whether they are commuting, working out or unwinding. Through our first-of-its-kind telco partnership in India with Vi, we are making Spotify Premium more accessible to music and podcast fans across the country. We are not only enhancing the listening experience but also helping create greater long-term value for artists, creators and the wider music industry in India," he said.
The complimentary Spotify Premium subscription will be available to eligible customers who have not previously used Spotify and can be activated through the Vi App.
The benefit is included with Vi Individual Postpaid plans priced at Rs 451, Rs 551, Rs 751 and Rs 1,201 (REDX), as well as select Family Postpaid plans, where the primary account holder will receive the subscription.
After the three-month complimentary period, users can continue their Spotify Premium subscription through Vi's 'Add to Bill' service at Rs 139 per month.
Vi said it will continue exploring opportunities with Spotify to expand the partnership and introduce more digital entertainment offerings for its customers.
