Times Music Acquires Indian Regional Record Labels Symphony And ARC Musicq

Times Music, a subsidiary of The Times Group, has announced the acquisition of two prominent Indian regional record labels—Symphony Recording Co and ARC Musicq. These mark the company’s first acquisitions since its 2023 partnership with Primary Wave Music, a leading global music publisher.

With this move, both Symphony Recording Co and ARC Musicq will now become part of the Times Music portfolio, strengthening the company’s foothold in the regional and devotional music segments.

“These acquisitions represent a major milestone in Times Music’s growth journey and reflect The Times Group’s continued expansion in the broader entertainment space,” said Vineet Jain, Managing Director of The Times Group.

Founded in 1983, Symphony Recording Co boasts a vast catalog of over 350 audio and 100 video albums, deeply rooted in Tamilian culture. The label has collaborated with legendary artists such as Balamurali Krishna, SP Balasubrahmanyam, and Chitra. Its devotional music segment has been a key driver of YouTube revenue, which has doubled over the past four years. The label’s six YouTube channels collectively garner nearly 2 billion views. This acquisition solidifies Times Music’s position as a leader in Tamil spiritual music.

ARC Musicq, a renowned Kannada music label established in 1985, has been distributed by Times Music since 2017. The label has played a crucial role in shaping Indian folk and film music, contributing to over 75% of A-grade movie soundtracks in the Kannada industry.

These strategic acquisitions reinforce Times Music’s commitment to expanding its influence in India’s regional music landscape.
