Supreme Court Of India Stays Order Against Tips Music Limited In IP Suit

Tips Music Limited has informed stock exchanges that the Supreme Court of India has stayed an ex parte status quo order issued by a court in Katihar, Bihar, in an intellectual property dispute involving Puja Entertainment (India) Limited.

According to the company’s regulatory filing, Puja Entertainment had initiated a Title Suit bearing No. 137 of 2026 before the Court at Katihar concerning certain intellectual property rights. Following the filing, the Katihar court had passed an ex parte status quo order against Tips Music.

The company stated that it subsequently took “effective and necessary steps” in accordance with the law to address the matter.

In a significant development, the Supreme Court, through an order dated May 22, 2026, stayed the operation of the Katihar court’s ex parte order. The stay will remain in force until the final disposal of proceedings currently pending before the Patna High Court.

Tips Music said it is continuing to pursue the matter in consultation with its legal advisors and will keep stock exchanges informed about any further material developments as required under applicable regulations.

The dispute adds to the growing number of intellectual property-related legal battles in India’s entertainment and music industries, where ownership, licensing and exploitation rights around content continue to remain commercially significant.

While the company has not disclosed the specific intellectual property assets under dispute, the Supreme Court’s interim relief offers temporary legal clarity as the matter proceeds before the Patna High Court.

Shares of Tips Music have seen mixed movement over recent periods, according to exchange data, reflecting broader investor attention on the company’s content-driven business and music rights portfolio.
