Indo Warehouse, the global movement redefining South Asian identity on the world’s biggest dancefloors, makes a powerful homecoming with its latest release, ‘Bombay Acid’. The hypnotic collaboration between Indo Warehouse co-founder Kunal Merchant and Grammy-nominated artist Raja Kumari arrives via the iconic label Crosstown Rebels, fusing tradition, innovation, and underground energy into a singular sonic experience.
As its name suggests, ‘Bombay Acid’ pays homage to the relentless rhythm of Mumbai, the city that never stops moving. Merchant’s intricate production weaves deep, hypnotic house grooves with ancestral Indian textures, while Raja Kumari’s commanding vocals elevate the track into a ritualistic, almost spiritual, club experience. The result is a seamless bridge between cultural heritage and contemporary electronic sound.
The B-side features a remix by UK house powerhouse SYREETA, who injects the record with her signature low-end energy and late-night intensity, a dynamic contrast to Merchant’s cinematic original.
Drawing inspiration from Charanjit Singh, the visionary behind the 1982 cult classic ‘Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat’, ‘Bombay Acid’ reimagines that pioneering spirit for a new generation. Through this track, Indo Warehouse continues its mission to reclaim and celebrate South Asian narratives within the global electronic landscape, merging rhythm, identity, and emotion into a cohesive sonic universe.
Reflecting on the release, Kunal Merchant shares,“I’ve been a student of Crosstown Rebels for years, the label’s depth and diversity have always inspired me. When Damian wanted to release ‘Bombay Acid’, I truly felt seen. This record embodies everything I strive for: it’s hypnotic, it’s unexpected, and it fuses worlds to create something entirely new. Having Raja on board will both surprise and intrigue people, we’re kindred spirits who believe music knows no boundaries. Her blessing on this track signals that our Indo House sound is here to stay.”
