Dabur Red Toothpaste has launched ‘Desh Ke Lal’, a new brand campaign celebrating the young Indians shaping the country today through their confidence, individuality and self-expression.
At the heart of the campaign is an original ‘Desh Ke Lal’ anthem, built around the refrain “Yeh hi toh Desh Ke Lal hain.” Combining music, humour and contemporary youth culture, the anthem portrays a generation that questions conventions, speaks its mind, takes responsibility and defines success on its own terms.
The campaign features lines such as “Askin’ questions, ain’t no crime” and “We define what be success,” reflecting the attitudes and cultural cues of today’s youth.
Extending the campaign beyond the anthem-led film, Dabur Red has introduced the ‘Pass the Desh Ke Lal Hook Step Challenge’ on Instagram. The Reel-led challenge encourages creators and audiences to recreate the anthem’s signature choreography, tag Dabur Red and nominate the next participant.
The format is designed as a chain of participation, with each participant adding their own interpretation before passing the hook step to someone else. The approach aims to encourage user-generated content while giving participants the freedom to express themselves through their own versions of the movement.
Prashant Agarwal, Head of Marketing – Oral Care, Dabur India Ltd, said the campaign reflects the evolving mindset of young consumers and their confidence to challenge, speak up and choose their own path. He added that the Independence Day campaign allows consumers to make these beliefs their own through the hook-step challenge.
Conceptualised and executed by Kandid Kanvass, the campaign combines an anthem-led film with a participatory social media format.
Saarthak Juneja, Creative and Director, Co-founder, Kandid Kanvass, said the campaign was built around understanding who the ‘Desh Ke Lal’ of today are, with their defining trait being how they think rather than what they do. He added that the hook step gives audiences an action to participate in rather than simply consume the campaign.
With ‘Desh Ke Lal’, Dabur Red brings together music, youth culture and social participation, with the campaign set to be amplified across the brand’s digital and social media platforms.
