Actor and Singer Ayushmann Khurrana has partnered with the Election Commission of India to encourage young people to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a campaign video produced by the ECI, the 39-year-old star advocates for youth participation in the electoral process.
Khurrana, renowned for his roles in acclaimed films like "Andhadhun," "Dream Girl," "Bareilly Ki Barfi," and "Dum Laga Ke Haisha," emphasized the importance of youth engagement in shaping the nation's future. "It is crucial that every individual exercises their right to vote and contributes to nation-building," he stated. "The responsibility of choosing our representatives lies with us, and each vote holds significant power. Voting symbolizes empowerment in our democratic society."
Santosh Ajmera, Director of Voter Education at ECI, commended Khurrana's involvement in the campaign, which aims to combat apathy towards electoral participation among urban youth. "Khurrana's portrayal effectively addresses common excuses for not voting, emphasizing the importance of civic duty," Ajmera remarked. "His impactful performance resonates particularly well with his younger audience, and the ECI aims to leverage his influence to inspire and mobilize youth towards voting as a fundamental democratic exercise."
