April 26th marks the annual celebration of World Intellectual Property Day (WIPD), an important event aimed at increasing awareness of the significance of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation and creativity. This year's theme, "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity," shines a spotlight on the “can do” attitude of women inventors, creators and entrepreneurs around the world and their ground-breaking work, and underscores the importance of advancing gender parity in the fields of innovation and creativity.
As a society committed to safeguarding the rights of music creators and publishers, IPRS recognizes the criticality of protecting intellectual property rights in the music industry. Commemorating the World Intellectual Property Day, IPRS is delighted to announce its engaging live sessions on Intellectual Property Rights for Music Creators and a drive conversations on Women Creating Music and its future.
Details of the session
The second session will be in the form of a music roundtable and will see representatives of the IPRS Women Wing sharing their insights regarding the IP scenario in the industry, including the challenges, opportunities, experiences, and strategies to support and empower the next generation of women creators. IPRS launched the Women Wing across its regional committees earlier this year.
