The NH7 Weekender music festival, originally scheduled to take place in Pune this weekend, has been cancelled after the Pimpri Chinchwad police denied the event permission, citing concerns over law and order and potential traffic disruptions.
The festival was set to be held at Teerth Fields in Sus on December 14-15, with an exciting lineup featuring renowned Indian artists like Amit Trivedi, Usha Uthup, and Raftaar, alongside international stars including Jorja Smith and DJ Craze.
In a post on X, the official NH7 Weekender account expressed disappointment, stating, “We are extremely disheartened to inform you that NH7 Weekender 2024 will no longer take place on 14th-15th December due to law and order restrictions in Pune. We are deeply saddened by this turn of events. Despite our best efforts to resolve the situation and having everything ready for the gates to open, it ultimately remained beyond our control.”
Sandeep Doiphode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), explained that the event was denied permission due to the risk of law and order issues and severe traffic congestion. The police also warned the organisers of legal action if the event proceeded without approval.
