JioHotstar is deepening its focus on AI-driven product innovation and platform engineering as it prepares for the next phase of intelligent, personalised streaming at scale. As part of this push, the platform has onboarded a senior leadership team drawn from some of the world’s leading consumer technology companies to strengthen discovery, viewer experience, marketing intelligence and monetisation systems.
The latest appointments bring together executives with experience across scaled internet platforms such as Flipkart, Google, CRED, Razorpay and Myntra, significantly bolstering JioHotstar’s product, engineering and AdTech capabilities. The new leadership team includes Shrinivas SG (Discovery & Personalisation), Naveen Prashanth (Consumer Marketing), Abhishek Sharan (Engineering – Viewer Experience), Abhishek Varshney (AdTech), Chandru (Product Management), along with Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal, collectively enhancing the platform’s discovery, engagement and monetisation engines.
Leading discovery and personalisation, Shrinivas SG brings deep expertise in building large-scale search and recommendation systems. During his tenure at Flipkart, he worked across search, catalog and trends, and played a key role in developing GenAI-powered conversational commerce, with a focus on vernacular, voice- and video-led discovery experiences.
To drive consumer growth and engagement, Naveen Prashanth joins from Google, where he led YouTube Shorts, Creator and Artist Marketing in India, overseeing brand, performance and monetisation initiatives at scale. He previously worked with McKinsey & Company, advising FMCG and B2C organisations on growth and transformation strategies.
On the engineering front, Abhishek Sharan brings over 15 years of experience building and scaling high-traffic consumer platforms. His earlier roles span leadership positions across the Flipkart Group and Myntra, covering search, recommendations, advertising systems and trust and safety. Most recently, he served as Head of Engineering at SuperMoney.
Strengthening advertising and monetisation technology, Abhishek Varshney joins from CRED, where he spent nearly five years building products across payments, ordering and financial engineering. His previous experience includes developing application platforms at Razorpay and infrastructure systems at Flipkart.
Further reinforcing the product and engineering leadership bench, Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal join from ShareChat and Cleartrip respectively, bringing expertise in recommendation systems, scalable platform architectures and large-scale user engagement frameworks.
As part of earlier leadership announcements, David Zakkam joined JioHotstar to lead analytics and data strategy, driving data-led decision-making across the platform. In addition, the JioStar Group recently appointed Emmy Award-winner Stephen Bugaj as Senior Vice President – GenAI Content & Technology, underscoring its focus on intelligent content pipelines and interactive storytelling formats.
The latest appointments, announced internally, reflect JioHotstar’s continued investment in building a robust technology and leadership foundation. The expanded bench is expected to support the platform’s next phase of growth, as streaming increasingly evolves towards more responsive, personalised and intelligence-led user experiences.
