Zee Music Company Accelerates Pan-India Growth With Strategic South Indian Music Acquisitions

Zee Music Company is strengthening its presence across India's regional music landscape with a significant slate of South Indian film and music acquisitions, reinforcing its strategy of building one of the country's most diverse multilingual music catalogues.

As the label expands beyond Hindi and independent music, it is broadening its footprint across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema by partnering with acclaimed filmmakers, leading actors, emerging talent and culturally rooted musical projects.

The company's regional expansion gained momentum with the success of the Malayalam film Balan: The Boy, directed by Chidambaram with music composed by Sushin Shyam. The film's positive critical and audience reception marked a key milestone in Zee Music Company's regional growth strategy and paved the way for a wider presence across South Indian languages.

Continuing this momentum, Zee Music Company has acquired the music rights for the upcoming Malayalam film I'M GAME, starring Dulquer Salmaan, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Mysskin, Kathir, Antony Varghese and Parth Tiwari. Directed by Nahas Hidayath, the film features music by Jakes Bejoy and is among the label's marquee acquisitions. The film's trailer is expected to be released soon.

The company has also secured music rights for a diverse slate of upcoming films across Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil cinema. Its Telugu lineup includes Vikramarka, Pallaburusu, Happy Journey, Mega 158 starring Chiranjeevi with music by Thaman S, NBK 111 starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, Kajal Aggarwal, Nayanthara and Sanjay Dutt with music by Thaman S, Kanaka Durga with music by Thaman S, and VenkyAnil5, starring Venkatesh, Kalyan Ram, Keerthy Suresh and Krithi Shetty, directed by Anil Ravipudi, with music by G.V. Prakash Kumar.

Its Malayalam acquisitions also include Credit Score, while the Kannada slate features Birbal: Case 2, Vibhrama and Mangala Gowri. In Tamil, Zee Music Company has acquired the music rights for Slumdog: 33 Temple Road, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Tabu, with music composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar.

Additionally, the label has secured the multi-language music rights for KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations' highly anticipated film Toxic, starring Yash. The acquisition covers the Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions of the film.

Beyond films, Zee Music Company is also expanding its original music portfolio through music-led intellectual properties that celebrate regional culture and emerging talent. The company has partnered with ZEE5 Malayalam's Kerala Underground, an upcoming hip-hop reality show, securing its music rights and recently releasing the show's promotional anthem featuring Dabzee, The Imbachi, MC Couper and Parimal Shais.
