Women of Music India (WoMI), the leading community for women in the Indian music industry, is all set to celebrate its first anniversary. Since its inception, WoMI has become a beacon of empowerment, supporting women artists and professionals across the music ecosystem with initiatives designed to create a safe, inclusive, and equitable industry.
Founded by global entertainment expert Priyanka Khimani, WoMI has grown into a vibrant community of over 2,000 artists, managers, executives, and creatives, offering resources, mentorship, and opportunities to its members. Over the past year, WoMI has hosted workshops, networking events, scholarships, and mentorship programs, fostering collaboration and creating opportunities for women of Indian origin globally.
To mark this milestone, WoMI is hosting a one-of-a-kind, invite-only anniversary event, on 28th November – “PWR POSE”, providing an exclusive opportunity for its members to get their professional headshots captured by an all-star team.
Reflecting on the milestone, Priyanka Khimani, Founder of WoMI, shared,“Statistically, women have shied away from making investments in their professional selves. ‘PWR POSE’ is our endeavour to encourage more women to step into the spotlight and claim their power. All big things start with the first small step. Looking and feeling confident is what women seek, and WoMI’s hoping to give them just that!”
WoMI continues to be proudly supported by Universal Music India, who announced a strategic partnership with the foundation earlier this year and applauded Priyanka for her formidable initiative to increase inclusivity in the Indian music industry . WoMI’s PWR Pose initiative has further garnered support from MyGlamm.
Speaking on the gifting association, Radhika Grover, Head of Partnerships, the Good Glamm Group added “We’re excited to support WoMI’s milestone event as the gifting partner for ‘PWR POSE.’ At MyGlamm, we’re all about helping women feel confident and celebrate their individuality, which aligns with WoMI’s vision.”
Celebrity photographer, Sasha Jairam, has been roped in for the big day. Commenting on her participating with WoMI, Sasha said, “As a photographer and as a female professional in the industry, I’m thrilled to lend support to WoMI. What’s more fulfilling than bringing out the best in women from the music industry through my lens!”.
