Universal Music India Releases ‘Laapata’ Featuring Kunwarr, BIR And DAAKU

Universal Music India has released ‘Laapata’, a new collaboration bringing together Punjabi music artists Kunwarr, BIR and DAAKU. The track blends Afro-inspired rhythms, Punjabi melodies and emotionally driven storytelling, offering a contemporary take on the genre.

Produced by DAAKU, ‘Laapata’ features vibrant percussion, global-inspired textures and an upbeat, groove-led production. Kunwarr brings his melodic and charismatic vocal style to the track, while BIR adds an emotive layer through his vocals. DAAKU also features as a vocalist alongside his role as producer.

The song reflects the evolving sound of contemporary Punjabi music, combining global influences with the genre’s distinct musical identity. The collaboration brings together three different artistic approaches, with the artists experimenting with new sounds while retaining an emotional core.

Speaking about the track, Kunwarr said the collaboration allowed the artists to create something fresh and melodic while retaining the emotion and honesty that define his music.

BIR said ‘Laapata’ gave him an opportunity to explore a brighter, groove-driven side of his artistry while continuing to focus on storytelling.

For DAAKU, the track provided an opportunity to combine Afro-inspired rhythms, contemporary production and Punjabi melodies. He described the song as a reflection of Punjabi music’s increasingly global and evolving sound.
