Virgin Music Group has appointed Syaheed MSBI as Vice President of its Africa, Middle East and Asia (AMEA) region, marking the creation of a new leadership role within the company. In his new position, MSBI will oversee Virgin Music Group’s activities across the three markets.
MSBI joins Virgin Music Group after more than 13 years at Believe, where he most recently served as Global Artist Success & International Director. During his tenure, he developed Believe’s artist services business across Southeast Asia and Australia and worked with artists including Hindia, Yura Yunita, Sal Priadi, Saran, Blvckheart, Nik Makino, Young Bleed Neet and Cub Sport. He also played a key role in establishing Believe’s operations and teams in Singapore and Malaysia.
His career in the music industry began in 2002 when he founded independent music company Bedsty, where he signed, produced and developed artists across Singapore and Malaysia. His roster included Sezairi, Sheikh Haikel, THELIONCITYBOY and Wicked Aura.
Commenting on the appointment, Michael Roe, Managing Director, AMEA, Virgin Music Group, highlighted MSBI’s artist-first approach and extensive connections across the region. MSBI said he was looking forward to working with Virgin’s artists and labels and strengthening opportunities for the independent music community, particularly across emerging markets.
The appointment comes following Virgin Music Group’s integration of Downtown Music into its operations. The combined business has aligned FUGA and Downtown Artist & Label Services under Virgin’s regional leadership structure. The company’s AMEA network includes leaders across India, Southeast Asia, China, Turkey, Nigeria, South Africa and South Korea.
