Spotify To Expand Audiobook Access To India And 180+ Markets By End-2026

Spotify is expanding its audiobook offering globally, with India set to receive access from November 12, 2026, as the streaming platform takes audiobooks from 22 markets to more than 180 worldwide.

Announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the expansion will give more than 750 million people access to audiobooks on Spotify, alongside music and podcasts. Listeners in newly added markets will be able to access more than 350,000 audiobook titles, including catalogues in over 120 languages.

In India, audiobooks will be available through Audiobooks+, Spotify’s primary audiobook offering across several markets in Asia, Africa and Argentina. Users can add Audiobooks+ to their plans for additional listening hours, while individual titles can also be purchased. Availability and pricing will vary by market.

“Books change how we see the world, and the people in it. For a lot of people, audiobooks are how they find their way back to reading,” said Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks, Spotify, adding that the global rollout will help authors and publishers reach new audiences.

Spotify is also expanding Page Match, a feature that allows listeners to move between print, e-books and audiobooks. Users can scan a book’s ISBN barcode and use page numbers to resume their audiobook from the same point. The feature is available in more than 30 languages.

The company also announced that Audiobooks+ will be added to Student plans in Ireland, Belgium, Austria and Finland in November, with plans to expand the offering to additional markets.

Since its launch, Spotify said Audiobooks+ has surpassed one million subscribers and generated more than $100 million in annual recurring revenue. Monthly audiobook listeners have grown nearly 40% over the past year, while listening hours have increased by more than 30%.

With the India rollout, Spotify is set to further expand its presence in the country's growing digital audio ecosystem, bringing audiobooks alongside its existing music and podcast offerings.
